The Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) is a national nonprofit organization that envisions a carbon-free energy system by 2050. They are one of many entities globally required to make this vision a reality. We are proud to receive this prestigious award and honored to be recognized by this visionary group.

NCEMC Statewide Meeting Visits Heron's Nest

The annual HR Conference for the statewide NC Electric Co-Op met today to tour Heron's Nest. The event and site tour was coordinated by Nicky Nance with with Brunswick Electric. The 26 member group toured the microgrid along with the solar cottages at Heron's Nest. They were able to witness first hand the smart technology used throughout the site and in the homes.
Brian Adams Presents at NCEMC Member Engagement Summit

Our Partner Brian Adams was honored to present at the NCEMC Member Engagement Summit in Raleigh (North Carolina Electric Cooperatives). Brian presented the Microgrid Development at Herons Nest and the future of how neighborhoods can support their owners and improve energy reliability for everyone. Brian was joined by an impressive team of supporters including Nancy Nance, Brunswick Electric, Bob Beadle, NCEMC and Lee Ragsdale, NCEMC. Congratulations Brian!
New Riverwalk Town Center Plan Submitted for Permitting

Shallotte’s decade-long plans to develop a riverfront town center are back on. A new team is on board to help the town of Shallotte realize its $98.6 million dreams. Continuing out Commitment to Providing Clean Water

The new water system has been installed in our model at Heron's Nest proving that we stand behind our commitment to provide Clean Air, Clean Water, Clean Energy in our Heron's Nest Environmental Village. This is apparent now that we are officially the first GenX free house on the block. All of our cottages will have the Kinectico Water Filtration System installed. Heron's Nest Takes On Hurricane Florence

We are thrilled to report that Heron's Nest has no damage and just minor clean-up at the site. Hurricane Florence has blasted the coast of North Carolina and Heron's Nest stood tall taking on wind gusts of 105 mph and a deluge of rain. Our superior design and construction has passed the test with flying colors. Record setting rain battered the area and our site quickly drained the water as it should and is a testament to outstanding engineering. We are proud of our talented team for preparing the cottages for the pending storm and their dedication is greatly appreciated!
Cottage Construction Begins

Construction has begun and we are thrilled to see the progress on the first cottages. The Heron's Nest site is buzzing with activity and several new cottages will be complete by August - still plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful weather.
